I read this quote last night and as a coach and parent, it really hit me. It said… Parents: After your child’s next athletic event say “I love to watch you play” nothing else and see the response.
💥🤯. As parents we think we are helpful when we make comments, point out things... we see etc. You know, the front seat coaching we do when we climb in the car. We want our kids to be the best they can be and to be happy. However, we pay a lot of money and time to good coaches to do that. We should let the coaches give them constructive criticism and we should get to be their biggest cheerleader through the ups and downs. That is our role and should be our only role.
So I challenge all you parents in October to just be a positive cheerleader. Be who our kids need. See if it makes a change for your athlete.
